How do I do a sit-up?

There are several options to choose from. Just choose the one that feels most comfortable for you. And if anything hurts too much, please stop or choose another option.

Option 1: Sit Up Crunch

  • Lie face up with your legs bent so that your feet are tucked as close to your bottom as possible. Either put your hands on your head or cross your arms over your chest, whichever is more comfortable for you.
  • Flex your body towards your thighs until your back is off the floor.
  • Lower back down to the starting position, and then repeat.

Option 2: Full Sit Up

  • As above, lie face up with your legs bent.
  • Engage your core and put your hands on your head or cross your arms over your chest.
  • Flex your body towards your thighs until your back is off the floor.
  • Lower gently back down and then repeat.

Option 3: Full Sit up with Kettlebell

  • Holding a weight makes the sit-up more challenging. This can be a dumbbell, kettlebell, or a tin of beans!
  • Keep the weight against your chest, tighten your core and raise your torso off the ground into a full sit up.
  • Lower gently back down and then repeat.

Option 4: Full Sit up with Kettlebell lift

  • You can increase the sit up further by extending the weight into a press.
  • As you sit up, press the kettlebell overhead.
  • Lower the kettlebell back to your chest, keeping the abdominals tight and lower back to the floor slowly.
*DO IT RIGHT*
  • Be sure to engage your core, not your neck.
  • Avoid rounding your back.
  • If you experience any pain in your back or neck STOP.
How long do I  have to complete my challenge?

The whole month of March – from 1st March to 31st March 2023.

Why March? Can I start the challenge earlier or later than March?

Absolutely. March is our birthday month – we are turning 22 on 8th March 2023! So we have chosen this challenge for March, when most people will be taking part. But you can take on this challenge when it works for you. The more people who sign up, the more impact we have.

What if I don’t complete the challenge?

If you don’t complete 2,023 sit-ups in March, it isn’t a problem! The most important thing is that you’ve challenged yourself. If you want to complete the challenge, you could always give yourself a bit longer to do it.
