Solo sponsored cycle ride raises £850 – Can you help too?
Andrew challenged himself to see how many miles he could cycle in one hour. In the event, he completed an impressive 13 miles. He was sponsored per mile and supported by friends and family who cheered him along the way, but the endurance was all his own.
The 4th December saw a bright sunny day for a lovely bike ride through the country – although it was bitterly cold – for some, like Andrew, a ride wasn’t something that could be put off for a warmer day after making the commitment to a sponsored cycle for Kids for Kids.
Through sponsorship, Andrew has raised an incredible £850 for Kids for Kids! We are so impressed with his perseverance, particularly on such a cold day in December. All our thanks go to Andrew and all those who sponsored him to raise such an amazing amount. All this money will go to helping families in remote villages in Darfur in 2017.
Andrew said, “I have enormous admiration for Kids for Kids because it doesn’t just deal with the terrible consequences of the grinding poverty in Darfur: it tackles the causes through a variety of imaginative programmes and projects that transforms the lives of families and communities in a way that is sustainable. This is a much more difficult task than delivering short term aid but I believe it’s the only route to a securing a better future for children and families in Darfur.”
If you are feeling inspired to take part in a challenge event, Andrew proves that you don’t have to be a super-fit athlete, or take on a marathon to achieve an incredible amount for Kids for Kids. Challenge events give you a great opportunity to achieve your own personal goals, or explore a beautiful place whilst raising vital funds for families in one of the most disadvantaged parts of the world, please get in touch if you would like to get involved.
