Act now to help children
in villages in Darfur

Welcome to Kids for Kids
KIDS FOR KIDS helps children living in remote villages in Darfur, Sudan, who live lives of inexcusable hardship.  It is the only organisation created specially to help children in Darfur.  It supports families through long term, self sustainable projects, identified and run by the villagers themselves.  KIDS FOR KIDS is different because it enables people to improve their own lives in the way they want – by listening to the families themselves we help them in the most effective way.  And by supporting a number of initiatives, some very small, we are making a major difference to over 165,000 people – despite the tragedy of the ongoing conflict.

KIDS FOR KIDS -We don’t believe in charity, we believe in helping people to help themselves

There are almost 4 million people struggling to survive in the villages of Darfur – out of sight of the world – yet the majority of the aid going to Darfur is concentrated on the emergency camps.  KIDS FOR KIDS is showing how, by strengthening these communities, we are enabling people to stay at home and to support their own families.

Khaltoum said “Thank you for giving me my husband back.  The loan of 6 goats has enabled him to be with us permanently and not to leave in the hungry summer months as he has always had to do.  My goats are providing a living for us, not just milk for my children, and now my children no longer have an absentee father”.

Children in Darfur look after the goats and KIDS FOR KIDS teaches them Animal Husbandry so that they will know immediately if one of their kids is unwell – and take him to our Paravet so that he can be treated quickly.

KIDS FOR KIDS believes in prevention of problems – essential when there are no roads, so that travelling anywhere is difficult and getting help almost impossible – but we provide a donkey so you can travel - we provide basic health care in the villages – both for the mother and children and for their animals.   A Village Midwife saves many lives, and prevents children becoming orphans.  Our First Aid workers teach villagers how to dig latrines, preventing many infections, and we provide clean water to prevent many water born diseases.  A blanket for a child prevents chest infections, our mosquito nets prevents malaria – and our trees prevent further soil erosion.

By thinking ahead we are helping children to a better tomorrow.
